Juicing recipes can be found everywhere, at any time day or night. There is a plethora of resources at your disposal. Not only websites, but cookbooks, magazines, ebooks and more. But for some of us, we want to experiment with our own concoctions. Possibly you are wanting to experiment with ingredients that aren't mainstream. Maybe you are just one of those independent types, who likes to do things on there own. For me, I like the experimentation, so making my own recipes makes more sense, because then I can discover new things. Whatever the reason, creating your own recipes is a lot easier than most people think. It is also loads of fun.
Here are a few questions to ask yourself before you get started.
Some people enjoy drinking straight juice, others prefer smoothies. Which category do you fall into? Is there an illness or disease that you are interested in treating? Juicing can be used to relieve symptoms of many different ailments. Maybe this is a weight loss adventure for you. Having these questions answered first will make the process much easier for you when you start working with different combinations of produce. Why? Each fruit or vegetable has different vitamins and minerals.
Tired of using your desk as a pillow in the office? Loading up on B and C vitamins is the answer to this. Are you trying to combat asthma? Folic acid has been known for years to help with asthma symptoms.
If you can tell which vegetables or fruits contain which nutrients, you will be equipped to make many excellent recipes. Knowing which vitamins and minerals can help prevent or trent which illnesses is the next step to creating great health-focused recipes. Of course you can't forget about taste. Do you want a drink that is very sweet or more earthy. Some fruits and veggies have more neutral flavors than others, you may want to start with these first.
Once you gather your thoughts and answers about the questions I mentioned above, you can start to choose the ingredients you want to play with. When choosing your produce there are a couple of things you should keep in mind. Make sure you purchase high quality produce. Growing your own or making a trip to your local farmer's market is the best choice. If you do not have the means to grow your own produce or visit the farmer's market, just remember to choose your produce carefully, buying organic when you can.
Some people get overwhelmed at first. Don't be afraid to experiment with different ingredients. Always remember, don't be discouraged if you make a bad mixture. Improve the taste by adding some additional complimenting ingredients. It won't be long before you are coming up with new, fantastic recipes in your sleep!
